What this archive knows, and how

Dates

The date on a sermon is the date of the service, not of the upload. It comes from the church's own website for 17, from the moment the live stream started for 197, and from the upload date for 1. The date in the video's own title is deliberately unused: the church streams from a duplicated event, so the title often carries the previous week's date, and "Sunday, Jujly 13" is the title of three different services. 201 of 215 land on a Sunday; the rest are midweek studies and holiday services.

Titles

71 of 215 headlines differ from what the church called the video: a leading date and a trailing "| Series | Passage" are dropped for display, because they repeat what the page already shows. The published title is kept in the metadata, in the filename and in the search index. Where the church's title says nothing but a date, that is what you see — the archive does not invent titles.

The passage

Each sermon shows one Text: the passage it is actually preaching, as opposed to every reference it mentions. It is derived, best source first, from the church's own summary (15 sermons), from the generated summary's prose (151), or from the book and chapter the transcript returns to most often (47). It is shown beside the full list of cited references, never instead of it, so where the pick is wrong the right one is a line away. 2 sermons get no Text at all.

Preachers

The channel's descriptions never credit a preacher. 18 attributions come from the church's website; the rest of the 45 named ones come from a transcript saying a name aloud, which is usually only a first name and is matched to a published full name when exactly one fits. 170 sermons name nobody, and are listed as unattributed rather than guessed at.

Series

182 sermons sit in a series. Where the church made a YouTube playlist or named the series on its website, that name is the church's. 17 series names on this site were chosen here, for runs the church preached and never titled; they are marked named here and each says so on its own page. They are: Acts: Paul to Rome, Acts: The Gospel Spreads, Advent 2022, Advent 2024, Advent 2025, Behold Your God: Isaiah 40, Disciples, First Peter, Genesis 1-3, How God Refreshes Us, Joshua, The Parables of Jesus, The Promised Power: Acts 2, The Resurrection: 1 Corinthians 15, The Work of the Spirit, Walking to Jerusalem with Jesus, Wednesday Bible Study: Second Peter.

Occasions

Advent, Holy Week, Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year are worked out from the date of the service alone — Easter by computus, the rest as offsets from it — so they cannot drift out of step with the corpus. The Sunday nearest Thanksgiving is deliberately not tagged: widening the rule that far mislabels a sermon in the middle of a series on Joshua.

The transcripts

Machine transcription by whisper.cpp (large-v3-turbo) running locally. It is unedited: expect wrong proper nouns and wrong scripture references, and check the recording before quoting anything. Whisper also sometimes latches onto one line and repeats it for minutes while the speech underneath goes unrecorded. Those minutes are gone, and where it happened the page marks the hole in place rather than splicing across it. 130 sermons still carry a hole of five minutes or more, 29 hours in total across the archive.

The recording is of the whole service, so the transcript and the word counts include singing, prayer, communion and announcements as well as the preaching.

What is missing

1 services on this site contain no preaching at all — a stream that ended early, or a music-only service. They are kept, and labelled, rather than deleted. Ten more videos the church's playlists point at are private or deleted on YouTube and cannot be transcribed at all; one of them is the only copy of a sermon from July 2023.
