1
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:12,000
I want you to know what God is doing in this passage, but I want you to know what God is doing in this passage.

2
00:00:12,000 --> 00:00:20,000
I want you to know what God is doing in this passage, but I want you to know what God is doing in this passage.

3
00:00:20,000 --> 00:00:26,000
I want you to know what God is doing in this passage.

4
00:00:26,000 --> 00:00:40,000
Yes, I think he is. Testing, testing, testing. Test, test, test, testing. One, two, three, testing. Testing. One, two, three.

5
00:00:40,000 --> 00:00:46,000
.

6
00:00:46,000 --> 00:00:50,000
.

7
00:00:50,000 --> 00:00:52,000
.

8
00:00:56,000 --> 00:01:25,980
Thank you.

9
00:01:26,000 --> 00:01:55,980
Thank you.

10
00:01:56,000 --> 00:02:25,980
Thank you.

11
00:04:26,000 --> 00:04:55,980
All right. Hey, good morning, everybody. We're going to get started. There's new coffee in the back if you need coffee, so. All right. It's good to see everybody. I know it's pretty rainy out there, so we actually saw snow there.

12
00:04:55,980 --> 00:05:25,960
The other night, I thought we were done, but I guess not. Today, as we begin our time of worship, we're going to be, Brandon's going to be continuing in Acts and Peter's sermon, and we're talking about how refreshing, the refreshingness that God gives us. And we, in our lady's study this week, we're talking about some times in Saul's life and how he had gotten to a point where

13
00:05:25,960 --> 00:05:55,940
he was pretty far from God, and God wasn't really responding to him. And I was just thinking about how, what a dry time that would be. How could you not thirst for what God would have for you? And so I was thinking about that and what Brandon's going on, and it pointed me to Psalm 63. And those are the verses we're going to read together this morning. So if you guys want to go ahead and stand, we're going to read together.

14
00:05:55,940 --> 00:06:08,940
And even if you don't want to read it, I would say just look at the words and think about them and think how they would be refreshing for your life. And what? Oh, okay. We're just waiting. So...

15
00:06:08,940 --> 00:06:12,940
Oh, that's cool. We can do whatever.

16
00:06:12,940 --> 00:06:25,920
Do 119 while we're at it if we want. All right. So we're going to read these together and just as we begin our time of worship today, starting

17
00:06:25,920 --> 00:06:55,900
in verse one, "O God, you are my God. Earnestly I seek you. My soul thirsts for you. My flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory, because your steadfast love is better than life. My lips will

18
00:06:55,900 --> 00:07:25,880
praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live. In your name, I will lift up my hands." This is the word of the Lord. And I wanted to take a moment to just say why we do this when we start our service. When I was growing up, one of the things I hated in church was responsive reading, because we all sounded like robots. And as I got older, I realized

19
00:07:25,880 --> 00:07:42,860
that reading the Bible together to start our service really gets us in the mind of why we're here and why we gather together and why it can be an encouragement to us as we get together. So we're going to go ahead and pray, and then we'll begin our service today.

20
00:07:42,860 --> 00:07:55,860
God, we thank you for everyone that's gathered here today and the safety that you gave them to be here. We thank you for those watching online, and we ask that the service today is an encouragement to those here and to those watching.

21
00:07:55,860 --> 00:08:14,840
And we just thank you so much that you are the one that can quench our thirst in these, when our life feels like a desert. And we thank you for your grace and for your mercy and just help this service to glorify you in Jesus name. Amen.

22
00:08:14,840 --> 00:08:25,840
Our first Song we're going to do is a newer one. It's called Jesus Messiah. So if you don't know it, just read the words. That's cool.

23
00:08:25,840 --> 00:08:34,840
And we'll get through it together. So just focus on the words and just as it talks about what Jesus has done for us.

24
00:08:55,820 --> 00:09:25,800
He became sin who knew no sin that we might become His righteousness. He humbled Himself and carried the cross. Love so amazing.

25
00:09:25,800 --> 00:09:55,780
Jesus, Messiah. Name above all names. Blessed Redeemer, Emmanuel. The rescue for sin.

26
00:09:55,780 --> 00:10:25,760
Jesus, Messiah. Lord of all. His body, the bread. His blood, the wine. Broken and poured.

27
00:10:25,760 --> 00:10:55,740
Out all for love. The whole earth trembled and the veil was torn. Love so amazing. Love so amazing. Yeah. Jesus, Messiah.

28
00:10:55,740 --> 00:11:25,720
All names. Blessed Redeemer. Emmanuel. The rescue for sinners. The ransom from heaven. Jesus, Messiah.

29
00:11:25,720 --> 00:11:55,700
Lord of all. All our hope is in You. All our hope is in You. Oh, the glory to You, God.

30
00:11:55,700 --> 00:12:25,680
The name of the world. Jesus, Messiah, name above all things. Blessed Redeemer, Emmanuel. The rescue for sin.

31
00:12:25,680 --> 00:12:55,660
The ransom from heaven. Jesus, Messiah, Lord of all. Jesus, Messiah, Lord of all.

32
00:12:55,660 --> 00:13:25,640
All right. If you want to remain standing, we're going to move to our next song, and then we'll do our prayer time together. If you're watching online, there's going to be a link, or I'm sorry, a phone number posted. If you have any prayer requests and you want to text that, we'd be happy to pray with you about whatever you've got going on.

33
00:13:25,640 --> 00:13:55,620
So, our next song we're going to do is Great Is Thy Faithfulness.

34
00:13:55,620 --> 00:14:25,600
O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with Thee. Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not. As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

35
00:14:25,600 --> 00:14:55,580
Thy faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see. All I have needed, Thy hand hath provided. Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

36
00:14:55,580 --> 00:15:25,560
To sin and the peace that endureth. Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide. Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow. Blessings all mine with ten thousand beside.

37
00:15:25,560 --> 00:15:55,540
Great is Thy faithfulness. Morning by morning new mercies I see. All I have needed Thy hands hath provided. Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

38
00:15:55,540 --> 00:16:25,520
Thank you.

39
00:16:25,520 --> 00:16:55,500
Let's pray.

40
00:16:55,500 --> 00:17:25,480
Let's pray.

41
00:17:25,480 --> 00:17:55,460
Let's pray.

42
00:21:08,320 --> 00:21:21,660
Be with Jonathan and Amy and their family. Watch over them.

43
00:21:25,340 --> 00:21:27,340
Amen.

44
00:21:55,340 --> 00:21:57,340
Amen.

45
00:22:25,340 --> 00:22:27,340
Amen.

46
00:23:25,340 --> 00:23:54,340
As we move on to our time of communion, I just wanted to share some of the--what the writer wrote--excuse me.

47
00:23:54,340 --> 00:24:23,340
In the devotional for Psalm 63, it says, "Consider the language of Psalm 63. David speaks of God as the thirst-quenching water for his dry and barren soul in verse 1. He speaks of God as a delicious meal for his hungry soul in verse 5. He speaks of God as his shade and protection, like the wings of a great bird in verse 7. David needs one thing in life, God. Not truths about God in the first place,

48
00:24:23,340 --> 00:24:52,340
rather God himself. And what is it in knowing God that gives David life and strength? Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you." In verse 3. It is God's steadfast love that does so. The Hebrew word is chesed, God's covenant, loyalty, his refusal to give up on those whom he has taken to himself. And how do you know that God will never give up on you? Because he has sent his son to prove it.

49
00:24:52,340 --> 00:25:21,340
And so I thought that was a good summary of just what the psalmist was saying there, and that it's easy to just tell somebody, "Well, God's not going to give up on you." But it's hard to actually believe that when it seems like everything in life is not good. And so I would just encourage you to just remember what the psalmist says about how God is there,

50
00:25:21,340 --> 00:25:50,340
and that He's never far from us. And I think that was when I finally started to understand what the gospel actually was, that it wasn't that I had to follow all these rules and God would love me or God would give me good things or anything like that. It's just that God is good and He does love us. And all that He asks is just that we trust Him, that He will do that. And so as we continue just in our time

51
00:25:50,340 --> 00:25:58,340
of communion, we're going to sing the song "Cornerstone." And again, if you need anything, it's on the back table there, so.

52
00:26:20,340 --> 00:26:22,340
God, be the glory of God.

53
00:26:50,340 --> 00:27:19,000
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness.

54
00:27:20,340 --> 00:27:36,840
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly trust in Jesus' name.

55
00:27:36,840 --> 00:27:50,320
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness.

56
00:27:50,320 --> 00:28:04,320
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly trust in Jesus' name.

57
00:28:04,320 --> 00:28:20,300
Christ alone, cornerstone, weak made strong in the Savior's love.

58
00:28:20,300 --> 00:28:31,300
He is Lord, Lord of all.

59
00:28:31,300 --> 00:28:50,280
When darkness seems to hide His face, I rest on His unchanging grace.

60
00:28:50,280 --> 00:29:09,280
And stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil. My anchor holds within the veil.

61
00:29:09,280 --> 00:29:35,280
Christ alone, call us Lord, weak, made strong. In the Savior's light, move the storm. He is Lord, Lord our Lord.

62
00:29:35,280 --> 00:30:00,280
Christ alone, call us Lord, weak, made strong. In the Savior's light, move the storm. He is Lord, Lord our Lord.

63
00:30:00,280 --> 00:30:29,280
When He shall come with trumpets sound, O may I then in Him be found. Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless than before the throne.

64
00:30:29,280 --> 00:30:58,280
Christ alone, call us Lord, weak made strong, in the Savior's love through the storm. He is Lord, Lord of all.

65
00:30:58,280 --> 00:31:27,280
Christ alone, call us Lord, weak made strong, in the Savior's love through the storm. He is Lord, Lord of all.

66
00:31:27,280 --> 00:31:56,280
Let's pray together real quick. God, thank you once again that we can be here today, and thank you for all that's gathered here, and we thank you that through everything in life that you are steadfast, and we thank you for your grace and your mercy, and I thank you for the patience of everyone here as we sometimes struggle through our service, and we just ask that it glorifies you in Jesus' name. Amen.

67
00:31:56,280 --> 00:32:25,280
All right, before we gather around the table together, Evelyn's gonna come and read to us a couple verses from the Psalms. Tell them what you're reading.

68
00:32:25,280 --> 00:32:32,280
107. 107. 1 and 2. 1 and 2.

69
00:32:32,280 --> 00:32:54,280
O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.

70
00:32:54,280 --> 00:33:03,280
Who He has endured from trouble.

71
00:33:03,280 --> 00:33:23,280
Now what I like about what Evelyn read is that she says, the way that psalm ends is, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so." That we are to declare with joy

72
00:33:23,280 --> 00:33:33,280
the good things that God has done for us. And we're maybe not used to declaring things very loudly, and one of the interesting things to me,

73
00:33:33,280 --> 00:33:44,280
I think the younger you are, the easier it is to declare things loudly. And so we hear our young children declare things loudly very often.

74
00:33:44,280 --> 00:33:52,280
So yesterday, when we were in the car a bunch, Luke loudly declared his displeasure with the situation. But as Christians,

75
00:33:52,280 --> 00:34:04,280
you and I are called to declare the good news about God. And in 1 Peter, the second chapter, Peter says this, beginning in verse 9,

76
00:34:04,280 --> 00:34:12,280
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession,

77
00:34:12,280 --> 00:34:20,280
that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."

78
00:34:20,280 --> 00:34:32,280
And so, Peter begins in that section. He's contrasting with who we were to who we become in Christ. And what he does is he reminds us of our identity.

79
00:34:32,280 --> 00:34:43,280
This is who you are, that you are chosen, that you are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, that God possesses you, that he cares for you, that he watches over you.

80
00:34:43,280 --> 00:34:53,280
And he does so for a purpose, that we can proclaim the one who brought us out of darkness into the marvelous light.

81
00:34:53,280 --> 00:35:08,280
And as we gather around this table, Paul, in 1 Corinthians chapter 11, will tell us that this meal, this tiny little bit of bread and this little cup of juice, is a proclamation of the gospel.

82
00:35:08,280 --> 00:35:23,280
It's a proclamation of what Jesus has done for us. In fact, in verse 26, he will say, "For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes."

83
00:35:23,280 --> 00:35:35,280
That Jesus, on the cross, takes all of our brokenness, and he pays the price for our sin. He rises again, giving us his victory and his righteousness.

84
00:35:35,280 --> 00:35:48,280
And as a people, we have hope in the midst of a world filled with turmoil and trouble because of Jesus. This is what we proclaim as we break this bread and drink this cup.

85
00:35:48,280 --> 00:35:53,280
Let's pray, and then we'll read some Scripture together and eat the bread and drink the cup.

86
00:35:53,280 --> 00:36:03,280
Father in heaven, thank you so much that you have redeemed us, that you have saved us, that you have called us to yourself.

87
00:36:03,280 --> 00:36:09,280
And so help us to proclaim your goodness, to proclaim the good news of the gospel.

88
00:36:09,280 --> 00:36:17,280
Not just externally, but in our lives, to our discouragement, to our fear, to our worries, and to our struggles,

89
00:36:17,280 --> 00:36:23,280
that we would proclaim the good news that you have loved us and you have saved us.

90
00:36:23,280 --> 00:36:27,280
It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

91
00:36:27,280 --> 00:36:31,280
If you would, take the bread with me. And Paul writes this:

92
00:36:31,280 --> 00:36:37,280
"For what I received from the Lord, that which I delivered to you, the Lord Jesus, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread,

93
00:36:37,280 --> 00:36:47,280
and when he had given thanks, he broke it and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.'"

94
00:36:47,280 --> 00:36:52,280
In the same way, also, he took the cup after supper, saying,

95
00:36:52,280 --> 00:36:59,280
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me."

96
00:36:59,280 --> 00:37:09,280
"For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes."

97
00:37:09,280 --> 00:37:20,280
Let's pray. Father, thank you for this message to our hearts and to the world, that there is hope, that in you there is joy,

98
00:37:20,280 --> 00:37:27,280
there is peace, and there is a future. Encourage us this morning. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

99
00:37:27,280 --> 00:37:30,280
Amen.

100
00:37:30,280 --> 00:37:45,280
This morning we'll be reading from Acts 3.

101
00:37:45,280 --> 00:37:56,280
When he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them

102
00:37:56,280 --> 00:38:05,280
in the portico called Solomon's. And when Peter saw it, he addressed the people, "Men of Israel,

103
00:38:05,280 --> 00:38:14,280
why do you wonder at this? Or why do you start at us? As though by our power or piety

104
00:38:14,280 --> 00:38:25,280
we had made him walk. The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob,

105
00:38:25,280 --> 00:38:33,280
the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in

106
00:38:33,280 --> 00:38:42,280
the presence of Pilate when he had decided to release him. But you denied the Holy and Righteous

107
00:38:42,280 --> 00:38:54,280
One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you. And you killed the author of life, whom God raised from

108
00:38:54,280 --> 00:39:04,280
the dead. To this we are witnesses. And in his name, by faith in his name, has made this

109
00:39:04,280 --> 00:39:12,280
man strong, whom you see and know. And the faith that is through Jesus has given this

110
00:39:12,280 --> 00:39:23,280
man this perfect health in the presence of you all. And now, brothers, I know that you acted in

111
00:39:23,280 --> 00:39:33,280
ignorance, as did also your rulers. But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his

112
00:39:33,280 --> 00:39:42,280
Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled. Repent, therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be

113
00:39:42,280 --> 00:39:52,280
blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the

114
00:39:52,280 --> 00:40:01,280
Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all

115
00:40:01,280 --> 00:40:10,280
things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago. Moses said, "The

116
00:40:10,280 --> 00:40:17,280
Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You shall

117
00:40:17,280 --> 00:40:24,280
listen to him in whatever he tells you, and it shall be that every soul who does

118
00:40:24,280 --> 00:40:31,280
not listen to the prophet shall be destroyed from the people. And all the

119
00:40:31,280 --> 00:40:38,280
prophets who have spoken from Samuel and those who came after him also proclaimed

120
00:40:38,280 --> 00:40:46,280
these days, "You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made

121
00:40:46,280 --> 00:40:54,280
with your fathers," saying to Abraham, "And in your offspring all the families of the

122
00:40:54,280 --> 00:41:02,280
earth shall be blessed." God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first

123
00:41:02,280 --> 00:41:11,280
to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness. This is the word of the Lord.

124
00:41:15,280 --> 00:41:27,280
Let's pray. Father, thank you for your word. We thank you for Dr. Luke, who wrote these down

125
00:41:27,280 --> 00:41:35,280
to share with us. May we be encouraged by Peter's sermon. May we be strengthened. May we be helped.

126
00:41:35,280 --> 00:41:42,280
And may most of all we be directed to the good news of the gospel. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

127
00:41:42,280 --> 00:41:49,280
So I don't remember the name of the TV show. I know I was probably in second or third grade,

128
00:41:49,280 --> 00:41:56,280
and I was over at a friend's house, and they had a whole lot more channels than we ever had because we had no channels.

129
00:41:56,280 --> 00:42:03,280
And we were watching TV after school, and it was one of those situations, maybe you've seen something like this,

130
00:42:03,280 --> 00:42:10,280
where somebody, some lucky child gets to go into a toy store, and they get like 45 seconds or a minute,

131
00:42:10,280 --> 00:42:16,280
and they get a shopping cart. And as much as they can grab in that time and fit into the shopping cart,

132
00:42:16,280 --> 00:42:23,280
they get to keep. Now, growing up in a grocery store, I was pretty critical of this kid's plan

133
00:42:23,280 --> 00:42:27,280
because if it would have been me, one hand would have been on the shopping cart, the other hand would have been on the shelf,

134
00:42:27,280 --> 00:42:32,280
and I would have just gone down the aisle like that. But he was picking and choosing.

135
00:42:32,280 --> 00:42:39,280
Out of all of the wonderful things he wanted, he was trying to get them all. And when we come to this text

136
00:42:39,280 --> 00:42:45,280
that Brent just shared for us, Peter's sermon after this healing of a man who is unable to walk,

137
00:42:45,280 --> 00:42:51,280
what we find if we begin to think about and consider and meditate and dig into this text,

138
00:42:51,280 --> 00:42:57,280
it's like this wonderful place filled with all of the things that we could want. And we're trying hard

139
00:42:57,280 --> 00:43:08,280
to pick out as many things as quickly as possible. Or maybe consider it like a diamond where light sparkles

140
00:43:08,280 --> 00:43:14,280
from every facet. So let me just point you in the direction of a few of those things from this text,

141
00:43:14,280 --> 00:43:20,280
and then we will go to sort of the center point of what Peter is saying.

142
00:43:20,280 --> 00:43:25,280
So one of the things that I love about Peter's text, and remember the context of this,

143
00:43:25,280 --> 00:43:29,280
is they have gone to the temple to worship, there's a guy sort of sitting in the doorway,

144
00:43:29,280 --> 00:43:34,280
and he asks them for money, and Peter and John look at him and say, "We don't have any silver,

145
00:43:34,280 --> 00:43:41,280
we don't have any gold, but what we do have is in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, rise up and walk."

146
00:43:41,280 --> 00:43:46,280
And this guy who has been unable to walk since birth, who's more than 40 years old,

147
00:43:46,280 --> 00:43:52,280
begins to jump up. Peter pulls him up, he jumps up, and he begins to walk, and he's leaping,

148
00:43:52,280 --> 00:43:59,280
and he's excited because all of a sudden, everything works. And so a crowd understandably gathers

149
00:43:59,280 --> 00:44:05,280
because for the last probably 35 years, they've seen this guy sitting there, asking for money, unable

150
00:44:05,280 --> 00:44:10,280
to walk, and now he's walking. And so Peter begins to speak to the crowd. And what I love, first of all,

151
00:44:10,280 --> 00:44:18,280
is Peter's humility. Because we have a tendency to take credit for things we did not do.

152
00:44:18,280 --> 00:44:23,280
So we'll have somebody over for dinner, and Rachel will cook something wonderful, and they'll say,

153
00:44:23,280 --> 00:44:28,280
"Oh, this was so good." And I'll say, "Thank you. I spent weeks and weeks preparing it."

154
00:44:28,280 --> 00:44:37,280
We all have a tendency, maybe not that blatantly, but we have a tendency to want to be the focus of attention.

155
00:44:37,280 --> 00:44:45,280
We want to take the credit for ourselves. And what I love about what Peter says, something amazing has just happened.

156
00:44:45,280 --> 00:44:51,280
And Peter, rather than standing up in front of everybody and patting himself on the back and saying,

157
00:44:51,280 --> 00:44:58,280
look at how great and good and wonderful we are. Look at what he says in verse 12.

158
00:44:58,280 --> 00:45:09,280
Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us as though by our own power or piety we made him walk?

159
00:45:09,280 --> 00:45:18,280
And down in verse 16, "And his name, by faith in his name, he has made this man strong whom you see and know,

160
00:45:18,280 --> 00:45:24,280
that faith is through Jesus who has given this man perfect health in the presence of you all."

161
00:45:24,280 --> 00:45:31,280
And so Peter says, "Why are you staring at me? It's not like I'm super holy or super powerful. It's all about Jesus."

162
00:45:31,280 --> 00:45:38,280
And I love that Peter, in the midst of this situation where he could have patted himself on the back and taken credit

163
00:45:38,280 --> 00:45:45,280
and probably profited from this situation, says, "No. It's all about Jesus."

164
00:45:45,280 --> 00:45:52,280
The second thing we see about Peter is that he begins to speak some hard words to this crowd.

165
00:45:52,280 --> 00:45:58,280
He has a hard and difficult conversation with the people who have gathered.

166
00:45:58,280 --> 00:46:03,280
And what he doesn't do is he doesn't hesitate and he does not equivocate.

167
00:46:03,280 --> 00:46:12,280
What he will say to them is that you delivered, denied, and killed the promised Messiah, the Son of God.

168
00:46:12,280 --> 00:46:18,280
He doesn't pull his punches. He doesn't say, "Well, guys, have you considered this?"

169
00:46:18,280 --> 00:46:25,280
No, he blatantly says, "You denied, you delivered, you killed the Holy One of God."

170
00:46:25,280 --> 00:46:33,280
Now, while this is hard and difficult to hear, especially when we are confronted with our mistakes and our wrongdoing,

171
00:46:33,280 --> 00:46:39,280
it is an act of love that Peter does that.

172
00:46:39,280 --> 00:46:43,280
We have hard conversations because we care about the person.

173
00:46:43,280 --> 00:46:49,280
We have hard conversations because we want what is best for them.

174
00:46:49,280 --> 00:46:53,280
I remember the street we first lived on when we went to Vermont was this little one-way street,

175
00:46:53,280 --> 00:46:56,280
and I remember one day we were out playing with some kids in the neighborhood,

176
00:46:56,280 --> 00:47:02,280
and this lady goes driving by in her car, and she has her purse on top of her car,

177
00:47:02,280 --> 00:47:05,280
and so all of us kids just start screaming at her,

178
00:47:05,280 --> 00:47:10,280
and she pulls over and gets out of the car, and she has this look on her face like,

179
00:47:10,280 --> 00:47:13,280
"Well, we're in trouble now," right? She's like, "Why are you guys yelling at me?"

180
00:47:13,280 --> 00:47:18,280
and we just kind of scared because we were like third graders just pointed at the top of her car,

181
00:47:18,280 --> 00:47:25,280
and she looks and she sees her purse is like, "Oh," and then just takes her purse and gets back in the car, right?

182
00:47:25,280 --> 00:47:32,280
At first, she becomes confrontational, right? Why are they yelling at me? Who do they think they are?

183
00:47:32,280 --> 00:47:37,280
And then she sees the reason for it, and her attitude and demeanor changes.

184
00:47:37,280 --> 00:47:46,280
What Peter is doing is he's not saying these hard things intentionally to try to hurt or to get revenge on these people,

185
00:47:46,280 --> 00:47:53,280
but rather to point them to what they are missing, which is the salvation that is found in Jesus.

186
00:47:53,280 --> 00:48:02,280
And Peter also goes to great lengths to temper the truth with love, right?

187
00:48:02,280 --> 00:48:08,280
Because we can speak the truth in ways that is harsh and unloving, but that's not what Peter does.

188
00:48:08,280 --> 00:48:16,280
Look at verse 18, "And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance as did your rulers."

189
00:48:16,280 --> 00:48:21,280
When Peter says that, I don't think he means that they didn't know that they were going to crucify Jesus.

190
00:48:21,280 --> 00:48:30,280
I think what he's saying is that you don't understand the magnitude of the sin that you were committing.

191
00:48:30,280 --> 00:48:34,280
In the same way that as Jesus is on the cross, he says, "Father, forgive them."

192
00:48:34,280 --> 00:48:38,280
They don't know what they're doing. They don't understand the magnitude.

193
00:48:38,280 --> 00:48:45,280
And so he points to their brokenness, and he says, "You do not understand how the magnitude of what this is and what you were doing."

194
00:48:45,280 --> 00:48:52,280
And so Peter speaks to them bluntly and directly, and I love that he speaks to them from a foundation of truth.

195
00:48:52,280 --> 00:48:57,280
And so he says, "First of all, we are witnesses. We have seen these things. We were there.

196
00:48:57,280 --> 00:49:04,280
This isn't just a good story or something that I heard from somebody. You heard it from somebody else, but I saw this with my own eyes."

197
00:49:04,280 --> 00:49:13,280
And then he backs it up with scriptural support by going back to Moses and to Samuel and to Abraham

198
00:49:13,280 --> 00:49:21,280
to credential his message. So you have these things that Peter humbly points to Jesus.

199
00:49:21,280 --> 00:49:32,280
He speaks the truth in love directly, even though it's hard and difficult and likely for him, makes him fearful over what will happen to him.

200
00:49:32,280 --> 00:49:41,280
He speaks the truth in love. He builds upon a foundation of what is true, and then woven through every part of this text

201
00:49:41,280 --> 00:49:46,280
is the good news about Jesus, who he is, and what he has done.

202
00:49:46,280 --> 00:49:51,280
He talks about the gospel, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

203
00:49:51,280 --> 00:49:56,280
He talks about his servant, which hearkens back to the 53rd chapter of Isaiah,

204
00:49:56,280 --> 00:50:01,280
the author of life, the holy and righteous one, the power of his name.

205
00:50:01,280 --> 00:50:08,280
And so throughout all of these things, Peter weaves together the goodness of Jesus.

206
00:50:08,280 --> 00:50:14,280
And right in the middle of all of these things that Peter is doing and saying, you hear these words,

207
00:50:14,280 --> 00:50:21,280
"Repent, therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,

208
00:50:21,280 --> 00:50:25,280
that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

209
00:50:25,280 --> 00:50:29,280
and that he may send the Christ appointed to you,

210
00:50:29,280 --> 00:50:34,280
Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for the restoring of all things,

211
00:50:34,280 --> 00:50:40,280
about which God spoke by the mouth of the holy prophets long ago." And so, first of all, Peter says,

212
00:50:40,280 --> 00:50:45,280
here is the bad news, right? You killed the promised Messiah.

213
00:50:45,280 --> 00:50:49,280
You betrayed him, you turned him over, and he was crucified.

214
00:50:49,280 --> 00:50:53,280
Now, here is what I am calling you to do, which is to repent.

215
00:50:53,280 --> 00:51:00,280
Now, repentance, at its heart, is not simply feeling bad about what we have done wrong.

216
00:51:00,280 --> 00:51:04,280
We've all been in those situations where we felt bad that we have done something wrong,

217
00:51:04,280 --> 00:51:08,280
and then we said, "You know what? Can't do anything about it," and we just keep going.

218
00:51:08,280 --> 00:51:12,280
The picture of repentance isn't simply feeling bad,

219
00:51:12,280 --> 00:51:20,280
but it's that knowledge of wrongdoing that leads to that feeling of understanding that we did wrong.

220
00:51:20,280 --> 00:51:26,280
And the most important part, and you get a glimpse of it in this verse, where he says, "Turn back."

221
00:51:26,280 --> 00:51:31,280
That at the heart of repentance is we are changing the direction that we are going.

222
00:51:31,280 --> 00:51:35,280
Like when your GPS says, "Turn around where possible."

223
00:51:35,280 --> 00:51:37,280
That's a picture of repentance.

224
00:51:37,280 --> 00:51:43,280
And when we biblically talk about repentance, what we are talking about is the direction in which we are going,

225
00:51:43,280 --> 00:51:45,280
and we turn around and go the other way.

226
00:51:45,280 --> 00:51:52,280
And so he calls these people to repentance, and he says, "If you will repent, and if you will follow Jesus,

227
00:51:52,280 --> 00:51:56,280
He says, "Here is what is happened. Here's what will happen."

228
00:51:56,280 --> 00:52:04,280
And first of all, he says this, "That sin will be removed, that your sins may be blotted out."

229
00:52:04,280 --> 00:52:12,280
Now what that means, and that Greek word literally means, to remove totally.

230
00:52:12,280 --> 00:52:19,280
And in fact, it's even more than that. It became used as a picture of a debt that was completely cancelled.

231
00:52:19,280 --> 00:52:22,280
And so we don't do that today. We sign things.

232
00:52:22,280 --> 00:52:29,280
But in those days, when a debt was recorded, a piece of wax was melted on to the debt,

233
00:52:29,280 --> 00:52:34,280
and the owner of the debt would take his signet ring, the person from whom the money was borrowed,

234
00:52:34,280 --> 00:52:38,280
and would place his signet ring into the wax, leaving his imprint, saying,

235
00:52:38,280 --> 00:52:44,280
"Yes, this debt is owed, and I, as the lender, am certifying that it's owed."

236
00:52:44,280 --> 00:52:48,280
And so what would happen is when that debt was finally paid,

237
00:52:48,280 --> 00:52:53,280
they would take a stone or a stick, and they would scratch out that wax seal,

238
00:52:53,280 --> 00:52:59,280
signifying that the debt had completely been paid. That seal was removed.

239
00:52:59,280 --> 00:53:04,280
And the picture here is that Greek word describes that process when you pay your debt,

240
00:53:04,280 --> 00:53:09,280
and the person to whom you owe the debt takes it and scratches that out,

241
00:53:09,280 --> 00:53:15,280
saying that it's been paid in full. In Colossians 3, this word is used,

242
00:53:15,280 --> 00:53:20,280
"You who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh,

243
00:53:20,280 --> 00:53:25,280
God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,"

244
00:53:25,280 --> 00:53:35,280
verse 14, "by canceling the record of the debt that stood against us with its legal demands."

245
00:53:35,280 --> 00:53:43,280
The word is also used in Revelation 7:17 and 21:4,

246
00:53:43,280 --> 00:53:48,280
where God says of his people who are experiencing sorrow, and they're crying,

247
00:53:48,280 --> 00:53:54,280
and he says, "I will wipe away their tears," and what it means is to take those away completely.

248
00:53:54,280 --> 00:54:03,280
And Peter says to this crowd, truthfully and lovingly, belt upon a foundation of who Jesus is and what he has done,

249
00:54:03,280 --> 00:54:08,280
and he says, "If you will turn to Jesus, he will blot out your sins.

250
00:54:08,280 --> 00:54:15,280
He will remove that record. He will forgive them. And no longer will that shame and that fear

251
00:54:15,280 --> 00:54:20,280
and that uncertainty and that guilt be weighing down upon you, but he will take it away.

252
00:54:20,280 --> 00:54:27,280
Your sins will be blotted out. It will be removed."

253
00:54:27,280 --> 00:54:31,280
If you've ever wondered why Christians sing that old hymn, "My sin."

254
00:54:31,280 --> 00:54:37,280
"Oh, the bliss of this glorious thought, my sin not in part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross,

255
00:54:37,280 --> 00:54:42,280
and I bear it no more. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul."

256
00:54:42,280 --> 00:54:46,280
It's because our sins have been taken away. We are no longer guilty.

257
00:54:46,280 --> 00:54:51,280
We don't have to hide. We don't have to try to fix it. We don't have to try to make excuses

258
00:54:51,280 --> 00:55:00,280
because Jesus has taken our sin away. And I love this text because it's not just,

259
00:55:00,280 --> 00:55:06,280
it's not just what is taken away from us, the guilt and shame of our sin, but it's what is given to us.

260
00:55:06,280 --> 00:55:13,280
He says that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

261
00:55:13,280 --> 00:55:16,280
Now we understand a little bit about refreshing, right?

262
00:55:16,280 --> 00:55:21,280
It's hard to imagine on a rainy, cold day like today, but on those hot days of summer,

263
00:55:21,280 --> 00:55:27,280
and when you come into the air conditioning for being outside, and you are just refreshed,

264
00:55:27,280 --> 00:55:35,280
or you're so thirsty, and you go get a glass of nice cold water, or in our kids' case,

265
00:55:35,280 --> 00:55:38,280
you know, a glass of Chick-fil-A lemonade, right?

266
00:55:38,280 --> 00:55:41,280
That's their refreshing thing on the hot day.

267
00:55:41,280 --> 00:55:47,280
We understand a picture of refreshment, and the picture here in our text

268
00:55:47,280 --> 00:55:52,280
is that God doesn't just erase the record of our debt to blot out our sins,

269
00:55:52,280 --> 00:55:57,280
but He then refreshes us in the depths of our soul.

270
00:55:57,280 --> 00:56:02,280
And so what you find is that Jesus is the one who satisfies our thirsty souls.

271
00:56:02,280 --> 00:56:11,280
In John, the fourth chapter, Jesus is sitting by a well, and this shady lady shows up.

272
00:56:11,280 --> 00:56:15,280
She's had several husbands, and the man she's living with now is not her husband,

273
00:56:15,280 --> 00:56:20,280
and she's coming to the well in the middle of the day because she's been sort of ostracized from society.

274
00:56:20,280 --> 00:56:23,280
Everybody has looked down on her and treated her badly.

275
00:56:23,280 --> 00:56:30,280
And you know what Jesus does to the woman that everybody whispers about and laughs at and judges?

276
00:56:30,280 --> 00:56:36,280
Jesus talks to her, and he talks to her respectfully so much so that she looks at him and says,

277
00:56:36,280 --> 00:56:41,280
"Why would you, a Jewish man, talk to me, a Samaritan woman?"

278
00:56:41,280 --> 00:56:44,280
And Jesus does it because he loves her, and he respects her, and he says,

279
00:56:44,280 --> 00:56:49,280
"If you knew who you were talking to, you would ask me for a drink of living water."

280
00:56:49,280 --> 00:56:54,280
So she's coming to the well to get her water for the day where hopefully nobody sees her,

281
00:56:54,280 --> 00:56:58,280
so she has to deal with those accusing glances and stares and whispers.

282
00:56:58,280 --> 00:57:02,280
And Jesus says, "I want to give you water that you're never going to have to thirst again."

283
00:57:02,280 --> 00:57:06,280
And she, in her mind, thinks, "Well, I'll never have to go back to that well again."

284
00:57:06,280 --> 00:57:09,280
She says, "Give me this water."

285
00:57:09,280 --> 00:57:19,280
And Jesus says to her, "I that water. You drink of the water of me, and you'll never be thirsty again."

286
00:57:19,280 --> 00:57:26,280
Now what Jesus means is that all of us in the depths of our soul have things that we desire and we want and we thirst for.

287
00:57:26,280 --> 00:57:36,280
And He says, "Ultimately, I will quench those desires of your soul. Those things that you thirst for, I will fulfill them in you."

288
00:57:36,280 --> 00:57:44,280
You don't have to be afraid. You don't have to run. You don't have to hide. But rather, I will satisfy the desires of your heart.

289
00:57:44,280 --> 00:57:52,280
You see, we try to do that in this world. We try to distract ourselves. We try to fill ourselves up with the wrong things.

290
00:57:52,280 --> 00:57:57,280
We pretend we're fine. We slap a little bit of tape on it and call it a temporary fix.

291
00:57:57,280 --> 00:58:02,280
But if you want to know what your soul is truly longing for, it's ultimately Jesus.

292
00:58:02,280 --> 00:58:08,280
He's the only one who can truly satisfy the thirstiness of your soul.

293
00:58:08,280 --> 00:58:15,280
And so Jesus restores our life with times of refreshing. And He quenches the desires of our soul.

294
00:58:15,280 --> 00:58:26,280
But He also gives us rest. This past week, all of our kids went to visit friends and family.

295
00:58:26,280 --> 00:58:35,280
And Friday night, I went to bed at like 10 o'clock at night. And nobody woke me up. Nobody was up early.

296
00:58:35,280 --> 00:58:40,280
And I had the best night of sleep. And I woke up with all kinds of energy.

297
00:58:40,280 --> 00:58:45,280
5:30 Saturday morning, which is, I'm like, "Let's go. Let's get this day over."

298
00:58:45,280 --> 00:58:48,280
Because I slept. I was so rested.

299
00:58:48,280 --> 00:58:52,280
And Rachel says, "Is this what it's like to feel well rested?"

300
00:58:52,280 --> 00:58:57,280
The answer is, "Yes." And it's wonderful. Look at what Jesus says.

301
00:58:57,280 --> 00:59:03,280
"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

302
00:59:03,280 --> 00:59:08,280
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,

303
00:59:08,280 --> 00:59:12,280
and you will find rest for your souls."

304
00:59:12,280 --> 00:59:15,280
God promises us rest.

305
00:59:15,280 --> 00:59:19,280
He refreshes us by energizing us with His Spirit, Acts 20.

306
00:59:19,280 --> 00:59:22,280
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.

307
00:59:22,280 --> 00:59:27,280
He also refreshes us with God's people.

308
00:59:27,280 --> 00:59:31,280
When we're together with God's people, it is a refreshing thing.

309
00:59:31,280 --> 00:59:34,280
Paul will say this in 2 Timothy 1:

310
00:59:34,280 --> 00:59:45,280
"May God grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.

311
00:59:45,280 --> 00:59:48,280
But when he arrived in Rome, he searched for me earnestly and found me.

312
00:59:48,280 --> 00:59:52,280
May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day."

313
00:59:52,280 --> 00:59:55,280
And you well know the service he rendered at Ephesus.

314
00:59:55,280 --> 01:00:01,280
And Paul says, "Here I am in jail and in chains and likely discouraged and struggling."

315
01:00:01,280 --> 01:00:08,280
And then there's a friendly face. And because he is a brother in Christ, it refreshes my soul.

316
01:00:08,280 --> 01:00:15,280
And I love how you see the gospel play out in this text that our sins are taken away.

317
01:00:15,280 --> 01:00:19,280
The times of refreshing come.

318
01:00:19,280 --> 01:00:23,280
And then Peter says, "Hope for us is revealed."

319
01:00:23,280 --> 01:00:28,280
He will say this, "That he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,

320
01:00:28,280 --> 01:00:33,280
whom heaven must receive until the time of restoring for all things."

321
01:00:33,280 --> 01:00:38,280
Now you and I, we don't have to look very far in this world to find brokenness.

322
01:00:38,280 --> 01:00:43,280
We see it in every facet of our life.

323
01:00:43,280 --> 01:00:49,280
We see it in the news. We see it in the direction of our society.

324
01:00:49,280 --> 01:00:54,280
We see it in our lives. We see it in our families. We see it in our workplace.

325
01:00:54,280 --> 01:01:00,280
We feel the brokenness of this world, that things are not the way they should be.

326
01:01:00,280 --> 01:01:04,280
Paul will say this in Romans 8, that feeling that things are broken.

327
01:01:04,280 --> 01:01:06,280
He describes it this way.

328
01:01:06,280 --> 01:01:13,280
We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.

329
01:01:13,280 --> 01:01:18,280
And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit,

330
01:01:18,280 --> 01:01:23,280
groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

331
01:01:23,280 --> 01:01:26,280
That this world is broken, and we feel it.

332
01:01:26,280 --> 01:01:31,280
And we groan out in anguish over the brokenness that we face.

333
01:01:31,280 --> 01:01:35,280
Well, what Peter says is that hope is coming.

334
01:01:35,280 --> 01:01:38,280
Our sins are taken away.

335
01:01:38,280 --> 01:01:40,280
Our lives are refreshed.

336
01:01:40,280 --> 01:01:44,280
And then he says this, that he may send the Christ appointed for you,

337
01:01:44,280 --> 01:01:50,280
Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all things.

338
01:01:51,280 --> 01:01:55,280
In Revelation 21, we find this, "I saw a new heaven and a new earth.

339
01:01:55,280 --> 01:02:00,280
For the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

340
01:02:00,280 --> 01:02:07,280
And I saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,

341
01:02:07,280 --> 01:02:10,280
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

342
01:02:10,280 --> 01:02:13,280
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,

343
01:02:13,280 --> 01:02:16,280
"Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man.

344
01:02:16,280 --> 01:02:19,280
He will dwell with them, and they will be his people,

345
01:02:19,280 --> 01:02:22,280
and God himself will be with them as their God.

346
01:02:22,280 --> 01:02:25,280
And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

347
01:02:25,280 --> 01:02:27,280
Death shall be no more.

348
01:02:27,280 --> 01:02:30,280
Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more.

349
01:02:30,280 --> 01:02:34,280
For the former things have passed away."

350
01:02:34,280 --> 01:02:39,280
I love that. "He will wipe away every tear from their eye.

351
01:02:39,280 --> 01:02:41,280
Death shall be no more.

352
01:02:41,280 --> 01:02:44,280
There shall be no mourning, crying, or pain any more.

353
01:02:44,280 --> 01:02:46,280
For the former things have passed away.

354
01:02:47,280 --> 01:02:50,280
There is, for God's people, hope."

355
01:02:50,280 --> 01:02:54,280
And I love what you see in this text,

356
01:02:54,280 --> 01:02:56,280
that you take the brokenness and the hurt,

357
01:02:56,280 --> 01:03:00,280
and it's met with forgiveness and restoration and hope.

358
01:03:00,280 --> 01:03:03,280
And in many ways, the first verses of this chapter,

359
01:03:03,280 --> 01:03:07,280
where Peter and John see this lame man who is unable to walk,

360
01:03:07,280 --> 01:03:10,280
and through the power of Jesus, they pull him up to his feet,

361
01:03:10,280 --> 01:03:13,280
and he begins to walk and leap and praise God.

362
01:03:13,280 --> 01:03:16,280
What happens to him physically is what happens to you and I,

363
01:03:16,280 --> 01:03:20,280
spiritually, when we come to the good news of the Gospel.

364
01:03:20,280 --> 01:03:24,280
That here we are, broken and hurting,

365
01:03:24,280 --> 01:03:28,280
and seeking for something that might meet a temporary need.

366
01:03:28,280 --> 01:03:31,280
And the good news of the Gospel comes,

367
01:03:31,280 --> 01:03:34,280
and it heals us, and it pulls us to our feet,

368
01:03:34,280 --> 01:03:36,280
and we respond with joy,

369
01:03:36,280 --> 01:03:38,280
because our sins have been blotted out,

370
01:03:38,280 --> 01:03:40,280
times of refreshing have come,

371
01:03:40,280 --> 01:03:42,280
and hope is laid before us.

372
01:03:42,280 --> 01:03:44,280
Would you pray with me?

373
01:03:45,280 --> 01:03:47,280
Father in Heaven,

374
01:03:47,280 --> 01:03:49,280
we thank You for how You have

375
01:03:49,280 --> 01:03:51,280
loved us and cared for us.

376
01:03:51,280 --> 01:03:53,280
We thank You for the good news of the Gospel.

377
01:03:53,280 --> 01:03:55,280
We thank You for hope.

378
01:03:55,280 --> 01:03:58,280
We thank You for forgiveness.

379
01:03:58,280 --> 01:04:01,280
We thank You that You have equipped us with Your Spirit,

380
01:04:01,280 --> 01:04:03,280
that You have refreshed our souls.

381
01:04:03,280 --> 01:04:05,280
It's in Jesus' name we pray.

382
01:04:05,280 --> 01:04:07,280
Amen.

383
01:04:07,280 --> 01:04:10,280
We're going to stand and sing.

384
01:04:10,280 --> 01:04:12,280
Oh, just hit cancel.

385
01:04:14,280 --> 01:04:15,280
Amen.

386
01:04:44,280 --> 01:05:14,260
To God be the glory, great things He hath done. So loved He the world that He has done.

387
01:05:14,260 --> 01:05:30,260
He gave us His Son, who yielded His life and atonement for sin, and opened the life gate that all may go in.

388
01:05:30,260 --> 01:05:44,240
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice.

389
01:05:44,240 --> 01:05:57,240
Come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, and give Him the glory, great things He hath done.

390
01:05:57,240 --> 01:06:14,220
O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, to every believer the promise of God, the vilest defender,

391
01:06:14,220 --> 01:06:44,200
who truly believes that moment from Jesus a pardon receives. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice.

392
01:06:44,200 --> 01:07:14,180
And give Him the glory, great things He hath done. Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done. And great are rejoicing through Jesus the Son.

393
01:07:14,180 --> 01:07:31,180
When Jesus we see. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice.

394
01:07:31,180 --> 01:07:44,160
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son. And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.

395
01:07:44,160 --> 01:07:59,160
We want to thank you for being here with us this morning, whether you are here in person or watching with us online. We are thankful that you are here.

396
01:07:59,160 --> 01:08:14,140
A couple things coming up this week. One of the things we've been doing on Mondays on our Facebook page and YouTube page and website is we've been walking through the Psalms. Tomorrow we're going to finish out Psalm 8 to see sort of the greatness

397
01:08:14,140 --> 01:08:44,120
of God and the humility of mankind and how God works and loves and cares for His people. So you can join us for that on Facebook or YouTube or on our website. Also, this Wednesday we're going to continue in the book of Job. I don't think we have a slide for that because today it seems like everything technological has been a struggle. And as you read through the book of Job, what you find is that's what life often is, right?

398
01:08:44,120 --> 01:09:14,100
A struggle of brokenness. And so we're gathering together Wednesday night at 7pm here or online and going through Job. There are some study questions in the back. We're going to be going through Job chapter 3, chapter 4, and chapter 5 where Job finally speaks and begins to talk about his brokenness. And then his buddy Eliphaz begins to speak and just makes everything worse.

399
01:09:14,100 --> 01:09:44,080
On Wednesday night at 7pm. Are there ladies? Ladies are meeting this week. 1 o'clock? 1 o'clock. Alright. So ladies Bible study this Thursday at 1pm. We'll go ahead and have a word of prayer and then we'll sing the doxology and be dismissed. Father in heaven, thank you for your church and your people. Be with us as we go through this week. We thank you so much for how you encourage us and help us. Just help us to see your goodness.

400
01:09:44,080 --> 01:10:14,060
To be thankful for it. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

401
01:10:14,060 --> 01:10:15,040
Amen.
